Rosacea Treatmen

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that primarily affects the central part of the face, typically affecting the nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead.

The exact cause of the disease is not fully understood, but several factors, such as genetics, environmental influences, and immune system responses, may play a role in its development. Rosacea most commonly occurs in middle-aged women, especially those with fair skin.

Symptoms

The symptoms of rosacea can vary, but are generally characterized by the following:

  1. Flushing: Frequent flushing of the face, which may become permanent over time.
  2. Blood vessels: Small, dilated blood vessels visible on the skin of the face (telangiectasia).
  3. Pimple-like rashes: Red, pus-filled bumps that resemble pimples, but without blackheads.
  4. Skin tightness and sensitivity: The skin becomes sensitive, may feel tight or burn.
  5. Rhinophyma: In rare, severe cases, the tissues of the nose thicken and the nose becomes deformed. This occurs more frequently in men.
  6. Ophthalmic symptoms: Rosacea can often be accompanied by eye problems such as dryness, irritation, or inflammation.

Triggering factors

Several factors can aggravate the symptoms of rosacea, such as:

  • Temperature fluctuations (hot weather, sauna, hot drinks)
  • Sunlight and UV radiation
  • Stress and emotional strain
  • Alcohol consumption
  • Spicy dishes
  • Hot drinks
  • Chemicals (certain cosmetics and skin care products)

Among the treatments used to eliminate symptoms, we can use medication, flashlight therapy (IPL) and laser treatment.
